The issue provides an overview of contemporary capitalism’s development and its crises and explores the significance of Karl Marx today. What are the lessons learned from 200 years of struggles for alternatives to capitalism?

The 350-page special issue features contributions by David Harvey, Michael Hardt & Antonio Negri, Slavoj Žižek, Rosa Luxemburg, Silvia Federici, Erik Olin Wright and many more. The issue is edited by Christian Fuchs and Lara Monticelli.

Taken together, the contributions show that Marx’s theory and politics remain key inspirations for understanding exploitation and domination in 21st-century society.
