This research paper tells of some of the fruits of Sebastian Sevignani’s WIAS fellowship (May to 31 July 2017), during which Sevignani explored how changes in society towards an informational phase of capitalism affects the human-need structure. In this paper, entitled ‘What Are Informational Needs?’, Sevignani suggests answers to the questions: What are informational needs? How do they develop in the digital age? What can the concept of needs add to a critique of capitalism?
